According to Reuters, Germany’s Der Spiegel reported on May 25 that Daimler was facing a recall of 600,000 vehicles, including C- and G-class models, due to suspected tail gas emissions. The report said that the German Ministry of Transport (KBA) is conducting a specific investigation and suspects that the above models are equipped with illegal software that can control exhaust emissions.

On the same day, Daimler said that it has not yet received KBA subpoenas for C- and G-class models. It will consider recalling after receiving the subpoena, but it refuses to respond to the details. Daimler once again reiterated that it will fully cooperate with the KBA's work, but it will appeal the decision to deter the deterrence; if necessary, the court will safeguard its own rights and interests.

On the previous day of the report, the German Ministry of Transport (KBA) asked Daimler to recall about 6,300 deterrent vehicles with 1.6-liter Euro 6 diesel engines. KBA believes that engine exhaust emission control functions violate relevant regulations.

According to reports, the German Minister of Communications Andreas Scheuer has summoned Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche. The two sides will meet in the German Ministry of Communications on May 28 to discuss the deterrence of the recall.
