PGS receives the third 3D seismic survey ship
On March 17, Norwegian geophysical company Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) officially received its latest Ramform Titan-class 3D seismic survey vessel (ship-type shipyard trading) "Ramform Tethys" from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (ship hangar) Nagasaki Shipyard.
The “Ramform Tethys†3D seismic survey ship is the world's first and most efficient 24-cable 3D seismic survey ship (ship type shipyard). In order to carry enough cables at the stern, the hull is very strangely constructed. The waist triangle is one of the most exotic ships in the world.
The "Ramform Tethys" is 104 meters long and has a stern width of 70 meters. Its huge rear deck is ideal for installation and towing equipment for seismic research. The cost is about $285 million per ship.
“Ramform Atlas†can carry 6,000 tons of fuel and related equipment, equipped with 24 cables and 12 kilometers of cables (purchased by the product library), and the sensors on the cable (purchased by the product library) can collect relevant data within 12 square kilometers, which is almost equivalent to 1500. The area of the football field. The boat is equipped with safe and comfortable rooms, including 60 single cabins and 10 double cabins for up to 80 people.
It is reported that PGS has ordered a total of four Ramform Titan-class survey vessels, and the "Ramform Tethys" is the third one. Meet the criteria for seismic survey vessels for the next 20 years. The first ship "Ramform Titan" was delivered in April 2013 and the operation was very successful. The unique design of the hull of this series of ships has only one purpose: to collect the maximum amount of seismic data quickly, safely and reliably. Compared to the first two ships of the same series "Ramform Atlas" and "Ramform Titan", the "Ramform Tethys" has a higher output and the rear deck has been further optimized. The ship thus became the new flagship of PGS.
Previously, PGS had postponed the delivery of the last two 3D geophysical survey vessels built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The two new ships are the “Ramform Tethys†and “Ramform Hyperion†delivered respectively. The delivery period was originally scheduled for the first half of 2015 and is currently extended to the first and third quarters of this year.
According to PGS, “Ramform Tethys†will travel to Europe, where many customers have expressed strong interest in the new ship.
