MAN Cryo receives an order for fuel gas supply system for 2 passenger ferry
It is reported that Mann Diesel and Turbo's MAN Cryo have signed a contract with the Norwegian Vard Shipyard Group to deliver the Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS) to two passenger ferry vessels being built by Norwegian shipowner Torghatten Nord.
According to Mann, each ferry will be equipped with a gas-electric hybrid propulsion system with optional fast charging from shore. The supply system will include a 175 cubic meter vacuum insulated storage tank, and the auxiliary equipment will include a LNG gas. Regulator, pressure accumulator and a fuel station. The MAN Cryo system will supply gas to the ferry's engine.
The new ferry is a double-headed passenger ferry designed by the Norwegian Multi-Maritime Ship Design Company. It is 134 meters long and 21 meters wide. It can transport 180 cars and 550 passengers and is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2018. Upon delivery, it will operate between Halhjem and Sandvikvåg in southern Bergen, southeastern Norway.
